An American man was hospitalised after his attempt to shoot an armadillo went wrong.
The Texan used a .38 revolver to open fire on the animal who was "trespassing" on his property at 3am in the morning, but the bullet ricocheted off the creature's hard shell and wounded him.
Sheriff Larry Rowe, of Cass County Police, said: "His wife was in the house. He went outside and took his .38 revolver and shot three times at the armadillo."
In April, in a similar incident saw a man's mother in law hit with bullets that bounced off another armadillo, who was the original target.
Sheriff Rowe added: "We didn't find the armadillo."
