A donkey has been arrested.
Police in Norman, Oklahoma, had no choice but to detain the four-legged friend and bundle it into the back of their car after it escaped its nearby enclosure and went on the run.
An officer took to the police force's official Facebook account on Tuesday (02.12.15) to post a picture of the hilarious situation along with an explanation.
The statement read: "Our officers encounter unexpected things every day while on-duty. This morning, Officer Kyle Canaan responded to a call regarding a donkey on the loose in the 8100 block of 120th Avenue NE.
"To ensure the safety of the animal, he helped transport the donkey to a nearby home for safe keeping until its owner could be located. It's not everyday that you see a donkey in the backseat of a police car!"
Office Kyle Canaan revealed to the Oklahoma Daily newspaper he managed to lure the animal into the car with food but regretted that shortly afterwards as he started to defecate on the seat during the short journey.
He said: "It was a huge mess in the back, huge mess."
