A man walked into a fire station and asked fighters to cut off his ring following the breakdown of his marriage.
A group of on-shift firefighters were left open-mouthed when a 26-year-old man wandered into their depot in Fareham, Hampshire, and asked them to remove his wedding band because it had got wedged on his hand.
Manager Ross Hutton told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "Unfortunately he had broken up with his partner but was stuck with the ring on his finger. He'd tried grease and washing up liquid but it wouldn't come off."
Despite the bizarre request, the firefighters were pleased they could be of assistance by removing the stuck ring.
Mr Hutton added: "He was very pleased we could help him."
