The competition isn’t the only thing heating up KL

The 29th SEA Games officially opened in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday and already Singapore has eight gold in the bag. But even if you are a complete sports noob or couldn’t care less about medals and records, there are still plenty of reasons to watch the Games, what with ripped athletes and eye candies to ogle. And you don’t have to look far or even pledge your allegiance to other teams. Here are eight hot and talented Team Singapore athletes who will melt your hearts.

Michelle Sng

Sport: Athletics

If Michelle Sng weren’t an athlete, she could be a model. With washboard abs and envy-inducing cheekbones, the leggy and sultry high jumper, who teaches English at an enrichment centre, is the embodiment of hot teacher. Good looks aside, Michelle holds the national high jump record and we’re excited to watch her defend her gold medal at the Games. Catch this stunner in competition on August 22.

Ikhsan Fandi

Sport: Football

One of four attractive and talented offspring of football legend Fandi Ahmad and former model Wendi Jacobs, Ikhsan Fandi is no stranger to Singaporeans. But the 18-year-old is ready to step out of his father’s shadows and this SEA Games will be his stage. Unfortunately, the Young Lions’ performance has been a little disappointing, having lost their first two group matches. Let’s hope they pull up their socks in their upcoming matches.

Sport: Wakeboarding

Singapore’s top female wakeboarder, Sasha Christian, who picked up the sport at age five, is not only incredibly athletic, she’s got one of the hottest bods in Team SG and luckily she’s not too shy to show it. When she’s not riding the waves, the bubbly girl enjoys tinkering in the kitchen. Wakeboarding prodigy AND domestic goddess? Some people have it all!

Mark Leong

Sport: Waterskiing

Another hottie on the water-skiing team is Mark Leong. With his pan-Asian good looks and boyish smile, the 19-year-old melted hearts when he clinched a slalom gold in his first SEA Games outing in 2015. Oh, in case you’re wondering, the mummy’s boy is still up for grabs.

Timothee Yap

Sport: Athletics

Sprinter Timothee Yap first caught our eye in the 2016 Rio Olympics when he raced alongside his hero and world’s fastest man Usain Bolt in the 100m heats. Though he didn't progress from the heat, a photo of him getting a pat on the back from Bolt thrust Timothee into the spotlight and eventually into showbiz. Not only is the 22-year-old talented, he also has the brains to boot – he is a law undergraduate at the National University of Singapore (and a very kiasu one at that).

Stefanie Tan

Sport: Tennis

Not only is Stefanie Tan Singapore’s top tennis player, she is the kind of #fitspo we need more of. Her body is strong and toned, with guns of steel (how else to crush her opponents on court?), we wouldn’t want to be on the opposite side of the net when she’s playing. Catch her in action from August 21.

Sport: Swimming

With a haul of 12 medals in 2015 – seven of which were gold - Quah Zheng Wen is the SEA Games’ most bemedalled athlete. Though he will only be racing in seven events this year, the 20-year-old cutie and his ultra-ripped bod are expected to make a splash no less. Ogle Zheng Wen in all his shirtless glory when the swimming competition starts on August 21.

Charmaine Soh

Sport: Netball

Standing at 1.77m, Charmaine Soh is hard to miss. But don’t be fooled by her red mini dress and girl-next-door looks -- the sharp shooter is fierce on court and almost always finds the net. Though the netball competition has ended (Team SG finished with a silver), you can still catch Charmaine in action here and here.
