7 spots where you can watch the F1 Singapore Grand Prix for free
The Singapore Grand Prix is back again for the 12th year running and it just keeps getting better! If you’re like us and can’t afford the insanely priced tickets, fret not because here are some places for you to go this weekend (Sep 20-22) to catch a glimpse of the action for free.
2. Cookhouse by Koufu at Marina Square Shopping Centre
If you want an unobstructed view of the race track, head to Marina Square Shopping Centre. We recommend getting a seat by the windows at Cookhouse by Koufu for a full view of the Marina Bay circuit (between Turn 15 and Turn 17). Also, since you’ll be indoors, it’s definitely the best option in case of bad weather (and haze). Alternatively, you can head to the Roof Garden on the third floor if you prefer spectating the action out in the open.

Not keen on jostling with the crowd at Marina Square? Millenia Walk is your next best bet. Home to bespoke retail products and a whole host of eateries, the mall commands front seat views of Raffles Boulevard (T6 to T7), allowing you to cheer on your favourite driver blistering down this stretch. For those who want the perfect vantage point on T6, head to the link bridge connecting to Marina Square.
You might not expect an office tower located at Beach Road to appear on our list but Shaw Towers makes the cut thanks to its spacious parking area. Although it is quite a distance from the race track, the elevated multi-storey carpark gives motorsports fans a bird’s eye view of the cars barrelling down Raffles Boulevard towards Nicoll Highway.
The Marina Bay Residences, The Sail and One Shenton
Time to do a Facebook or Instagram check and find out if you have any long-lost friends (or family) staying at any of these High SES places. These condominiums are all scattered around the Marina Bay area and will give you the best view of the circuit track anywhere around T8 to T21.
Psst, you might want to get a couple of beers and snacks as a nice housewarming gift and treat your friend to one of these restaurants on Chope after you’re done invading their home.

With the plethora of activities and concerts taking place at the Padang, it’s no surprise that the National Gallery rooftop’s free access makes it a hotspot to watch the race. Besides getting treated to a view of the cars hurtling down Saint Andrew’s Road, there are also a myriad of bars and eateries nearby should you feel like celebrating post-race.

The Helix Bridge
Even with a large portion of Helix Bridge being closed off by race officials, it remains a popular spot to catch your favourite drivers because of its proximity to the Bay Grandstand area (T18 to T21). Additionally, you’ll get to see plenty of action here with the numerous twists and turns before the cars zip down the homestretch and cross the finish line.
Since this one’s outdoors and also pretty accessible to the public, we’ll recommend getting there early to chope a good spot. You might also want to prepare picnic mats, portable stools and fans to make yourself comfortable even if you get squished by crowds. Getting some snacks might also be a good idea.
